2. What type of adventure are you seeking?
While we’re focussed on trekking, the possibilities for adventure ideas are endless. For example you could also try
- a roadtrip such as driving across the Nullarbor, around New York State, Cuba or Oman
- mountaineering
- mountain biking or cycling
- going high altitude in Colombia, Borneo or the Himalayas
- snow-shoeing in Japan or in the Arctic Circle, where you can also go dog-sledding and see the Northern Lights
- learning something new such as an expedition skills course in the Pyrenees or snow climbing on Mt Kosciuszko
- many other adventures such as rock climbing, canyoning, kayaking or canoeing
- something as simple as a walk around the block
- immerse yourself in nature with the Japanese concept of shinrin-yoku (forest-bathing)
- geocaching – the world’s largest treasure hunt, where you can test your navigation skills and have some fun – both locally and globally
- or a really big project, perhaps a big expedition or a multi-stage project. See our post on How To Start An Adventure Project. A few ideas to get you started:
- our Project Base8000 to trek to the base camps of all the world’s 14 highest mountains over 8000m
- hiking the Great Himalaya Trail or the Great Hindu Kush and Karakoram Traverse – in one go or in sections
